Gal Gadot opens up about hollywood’s pay parity struggle

Gal Gadot
In 2021, Gal Gadot took center stage during the virtual press conference for the National Geographic series “Impact With Gal Gadot.” Beyond her on-screen prowess, she fearlessly tackled the persisting issue of pay disparity in Hollywood. Gal candidly shared her journey, fighting for equal pay alongside her male co-stars, solidifying her status not just as Wonder Woman on screen but as a real-life advocate for change in the industry.

When it comes to pay disparity, Gal Gadot said, “My biggest struggle as a woman has been equal pay as my male co-stars, (all of) whom I love so much. As a woman, that has been the biggest thing. As a human being, I have struggled with many other problems.”

Gender inequality in Hollywood’s actual earnings has been a longstanding issue. A 2017 study from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee revealed that female stars earn approximately $1.1 million less than their male counterparts.

Jennifer Lawrence, one of the most powerful voices for gender equality in Hollywood today, reveals that despite being among the world’s highest-paid female stars, she still earns millions less than her male counterparts. In an interview with Vogue, the actress doesn’t shy away from addressing the wage gap between genders, stating that no matter how much she gives, she will never be paid as much as her male co-stars.
