Ariana Grande is setting the record straight about her tour schedule.
On Thursday, the 25-year-old singer tweeted the new dates added to her Sweetener World Tour. While many fans were excited, others were disappointed to see all the extra shows were in the United States.
One fan questioned Grande’s decision, tweeting, “I just can’t understand why she’s literally doing 4-5 shows in a STATE instead of going to other countries.”
Grande, a Grammy winner who had previously mentioned adding US dates, took a moment to address the fan’s concern.
“The truth is: European leg is going to be a big step,” she tweeted. “I’m really excited about it and grateful to do it! But since you’re asking, this is simply the best I’m capable of at this time and keeping me closer to home for a majority of the dates is what’s best for my health rn. love u!”
Another fan reassured Grande of their love and support, expressing gratitude for the additional dates.
“Thank u! I’m very excited about them tbh,” Grande replied. “Doing the best I can do for right now and so grateful for my health and for this chapter and for my fans for supporting and understanding the pace I’m moving at. sooooo grateful for u. thank u.”
While Grande isn’t adding more international stops for now, she hinted at keeping an open mind. After a fan reiterated their appreciation for the extra dates but expressed curiosity about the location choices, Grande clarified, “this is it for now;” however, she also said she’s “excitedly playing it by ear and seeing how it goes.”
Grande is already scheduled for over 30 shows across the UK and Europe, including stops in London, Paris, Berlin, Dublin, and Amsterdam. Notably, she will be returning to Manchester, where a horrific attack at her concert in 2017 tragically took 22 lives.
Last year, Grande opened up to British Vogue about coping with post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms after the attack. She acknowledged the immense loss experienced by the families and fans involved, emphasizing the importance of time for healing.
Grande has also spoken candidly about her anxiety. She previously told the magazine, “I’ve always had anxiety. I’ve never really spoken about it because I thought everyone had it, but when I got home from tour it was the most severe I think it’s ever been.”
Considering these past struggles and recent health issues on tour (including a tomato allergy and bronchitis), it’s understandable that Grande prioritizes her well-being.
While international fans may have to wait a bit longer, Ariana Grande’s communication with fans highlights the importance of mental health for performers. Her focus on prioritizing her well-being ensures she can continue delivering powerful performances for fans around the world.
