Jake Gyllenhaal has revealed his strict diet regime while filming new movie Road House during an appearance on This Morning on Thursday.
The actor, 43, plays Elwood Dalton, a former UFC fighter who becomes a bouncer for a dingy bar in the Florida Keys, starring alongside UFC fighter Conor McGregor, 35.
Speaking to a giddy Sian Welby, Jake gave an insight into how he prepared and kept his ripped physique while filming the action Prime Video film.
The American star explained how he wouldn’t allow himself to have ‘one chip’ because it would destroy the hard work he had put.
He said: ‘If you really look. I don’t eat the tacos. You see me take the plate and I say thank you and then the scene cuts you never actually see me take a mouthful. ‘

‘I was on a strict regimen, one chip would have done the whole thing.’
Jake also admitted he was ‘totally terrified’ while filming fight scenes with Conor because ‘he really could kick my a**’.
Conor, who’s taken on his first ever movie role playing Knox, is seen in one clip forcefully headbutting Jake’s character Elwood Dalton.
Jake explained how he had to ‘teach professional fighters’ how to fake fight so it was believer to viewers.
He continued: ‘I was like this is really cool but I was also just totally terrified. I was teaching professional fighters, who could really kick my a**, how to kick my a** so that people really buy it.
‘Their ability to judge distance is unlike anyone else to be working with someone who can do that, there’s a safety to that too.’
The reboot of the 1989 cult classic that originally starred Patrick Swayze, was released on Amazon Prime on March 21.
Ahead of Road House’s world premiere at SXSW Festival, Hollywood fitness expert Jason Walsh, who has worked with Jake for over eight years, discussed his gruelling training regime.

Speaking with Insider, Jason revealed he worked with Jake at his New York studio, Rise Nation, with the actor attending his high-intensity 30 minute VersaClimber workouts as well as weightlifting sessions.
He said: ‘He was going there a lot especially since we were trying to get him into UFC fighter shape.
‘VersaClimber workouts mimic our primal climbing and crawling movements and are an effective way to boost cardiovascular fitness.’
The full body vertical climber allows users to burn fat in a short space of time and increase aerobic capacity with low impact on the joints.
Jason praised Jake’s commitment and dedicated approach to his training.
He added: ‘If he’s not in the gym doing strength training and conditioning, he’s swimming, he’s outside playing paddle tennis, he cycles like crazy. The guy does everything. He’s just always looking for that stimulus.
Jake is no stranger to undergoing intense physical transformations for his role, having once shed 30lbs for his role as a hungry reporter in 2014’s Nightcrawler only to bulk up again the following year to play a world-champion brawler in Southpaw.
