Lil Durk Offers HBCU Students Opportunity to Win Over $333,000 in Scholarship Prizes

Rapper Lil Durk, known for his basketball skills, is extending an opportunity for college students to earn scholarship funds through their own athletic abilities.

On March 28, Durk revealed his collaboration with Starry for the Starry Fizz Fest, a basketball tournament to be held at four different Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)

nationwide. Participants will compete for a chance to secure over $333,000 in scholarship money and prizes.

Durk expressed his excitement for the initiative, stating, “Being competitive doesn’t just apply to sports; life itself is about hunger, drive, and teamwork. This initiative is about rewarding students for their hard work on and off the court, showing love, and supporting our people as they pursue their dreams.”

The Fizz Fest will kιck off at Norfolk State University on March 29 and will visit Hampton University on April 1, Jackson State University on April 20, and Morgan State University on April 26.

Students will engage in various basketball competitions, including themed spin-offs of Horse and three-point contests, for the opportunity to win top prizes. One of the coveted prizes includes a NIL deal, typically reserved for student-athletes, to become a brand ambassador for STARRY.

Additionally, the PepsiCo Foundation will award $20,000 to one student at each tournament stop. Applications for this scholarship will open on April 8.

The ultimate winner will enjoy an all-expenses-paid trip to the NBA Tip-Off for the 2024-2025 season and will serve as the face of the next Starry Fizz Fest 2.0 tournament.

While Lil Durk plans to surprise students with appearances at some of the HBCU stops, the specific locations have not yet been announced.
