Dr. Dre finally received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but the ceremony’s most memorable moment came from his longtime collaborator, Snoop Dogg.

The legendary producer was surrounded by friends and fellow music icons on Tuesday, March 19th, as he unveiled his star. Eminem, 50 Cent, Big Boy, and Jimmy Iovine were just a few of the big names in attendance to celebrate Dr. Dre’s achievements.

Snoop Dogg’s Heartfelt Speech

While each guest offered their congratulations, it was Snoop Dogg’s speech that truly stole the show. Snoop expressed his deep gratitude for Dr. Dre’s impact, calling him a “teacher, mentor, brother, guardian, protector, and most importantly, a good friend.”

He took the audience back to their beginnings, mentioning his introduction to Dr. Dre through their mutual friend and collaborator, Warren G, who also happens to be Dr. Dre’s half-brother.

A Touch of Humor and Self-Deprecation

Snoop Dogg’s signature humor shone through when he jokingly thanked himself for taking the life-changing call from Warren G and Dr. Dre. He admitted his disbelief was so strong that he initially hung up on Warren multiple times!

“I wanna thank me for taking the call from Warren and Dr. Dre in ’91, even though I hung up on Warren a few times ’cause I thought the n***a was lying,” Snoop said, drawing laughter from the crowd.

He continued his lightheartedness by commending himself for his punctuality at the star-studded Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show in 2022, which they performed together. “I wanna thank me for showing up on time at the Super Bowl,” he quipped.

Snoop Dogg then showcased his lyrical prowess with a freestyle rap dedicated to Dr. Dre. He detailed their humble beginnings and the creative synergy that has fueled their success for decades.

The freestyle highlighted their journey, from “a house with no furniture” and a “studio in the back” to international recognition. Snoop even compared their partnership to the legendary duo of Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson, solidifying their place as a “motherf**king supergroup.”
