Longtime friend and collaborator Dr. Dre sent Eminem fans into a frenzy with a surprise announcement on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The legendary producer revealed that Eminem is gearing up to release his first studio album in four years, with a drop expected sometime in 2024.

Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, last released an album in 2020 with “Music To Be Murdered By.” The news of a new project sent the Jimmy Kimmel Live audience into a roar of cheers and applause.

Dr. Dre himself is involved in the album, hinting that he has contributed tracks and will be getting his first full listen the very next day. “He holds his music close to his chest,” Dre explained, “but I’m gonna hear it and he’s putting out an album this year.”

This news comes alongside the revelation that Eminem is co-producing a documentary about his most dedicated fans through his company Shady Films. Titled “Stans” after his iconic 2000 song exploring obsessive fandom, the documentary promises a unique perspective.

In a statement, Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg and Shady Films’ Stuart Parr described the project as “an opportunity for us to turn the camera around and ask the audience about being fans – and in some cases, fanatics.”

The documentary aims to be “a study of the relationship between fanbase and artist through the lens of one of Eminem’s most fascinating songs and one of the world’s most important entertainers.”

Eminem’s return to the studio, coupled with the upcoming documentary, promises to be a banner year for the rap legend and his devoted fanbase.
