The novel, titled Summer crossing, was released in the early 1940s and is considered Truman Capote’s debut work. But more than 50 years later, this manuscript was rediscovered and published in 2005.

The novel is set in New York City after World War II, about a young girl who struggles to escape her family to find her own values and discover a new life.
