Selena Gomez turned heads at the New York City premiere of her co-star Steve Martin’s documentary, “Steve! (Martin): A Documentary in 2 Pieces.” The 31-year-old actress looked stunning in a chic black dress, showcasing her natural beauty with minimal makeup and a sleek bun. While there to support Martin, all eyes seemed to be on Gomez, raising questions about whether she unintentionally became the center of attention.
Despite the spotlight seemingly shifting, the evening celebrated Martin’s incredible career in a two-part documentary on Apple TV+. The night was filled with laughter as Gomez and Martin embraced, joined by a star-studded audience that included Jimmy Fallon, Diane Sawyer, and Finn Wittrock.
Beyond the red carpet glamour, the event offered a glimpse into Gomez’s busy schedule. In addition to filming season four of “Only Murders in the Building” with Martin and Martin Short, she has several other exciting projects on the horizon.
First up is a spin-off of her popular HBO Max cooking show, “Selena + Chef.” Trading her home kitchen for some of LA’s hottest restaurants, “Selena + Restaurant” will feature Gomez alongside her best friend Raquelle Stevens as they learn from culinary masters. Chefs like Shirley Chung, Keith Corbin, and Wolfgang Puck will put Gomez’s skills to the test, with the ultimate goal of creating a dish worthy of their menus. Each episode will also highlight a charity chosen by the participating chef.
“After cooking virtually with incredible chefs for the past four years, I’m thrilled to step into their world,” Gomez said in a statement about the show. “You’ll have to see if being in person helps my skills at all!” “Selena + Restaurant” premieres on May 2nd with double back-to-back episodes on Food Network and will also be available for streaming on HBO Max.
Another major announcement involves the highly anticipated sequel series to the beloved Disney show, “Wizards of Waverly Place.” Gomez is not only reprising her role as Alex Russo but also stepping into an executive producer role. She’ll reunite with her on-screen brother, David Henrie, who will reprise his role as Justin Russo. Production begins in April in Los Angeles, with the series expected to premiere later this year on both Disney Channel and Disney+. The storyline will revolve around Justin’s life as a mortal with his wife and children, while magic inevitably finds its way back into the equation.
“Wizards of Waverly Place” originally aired from 2007 to 2012 and launched Gomez to teen idol status. Her return to the franchise, along with her upcoming cooking show, promises to keep her fans entertained. While the Steve Martin documentary premiere may have sparked questions about who stole the show, there’s no doubt that Selena Gomez has her own captivating projects waiting in the wings.
