Tennis champion Serena Williams swapped the court for the runway as she strutted her stuff for the Vogue World show at New York Fashion Week on Monday.

The former world No.1 turned heads in a metallic dress and cape as she joined the likes of Gigi Hadid on the catwalk.

The newly-retired athlete, 40, was then seen sitting front at the show next to Vogue’s famed editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, 72.

Strutting her stuff: Serena Williams turned heads in a metallic cape dress on Monday as she walked the runway at the Vogue World show at New York Fashion Week

For the show, held in the city’s Meatpacking District, Serena wore a skintight silver dress and matching cape that was buttoned up at the neck.

Her look was completed with a pair of silver heels and oversized silver jewel earrings.

Her dark locks were tied back and off her face into long ponytail and her makeup was completed with a glossy nude lip.

Coveted: The show featured pieces selected by Vogue from designers including Balenciaga, Burberry, Coach, Dior, Gucci, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren and Valentino

Serena looked nothing short of confident as she strutted down the runway in front of packed audience.

In a nod to her tennis roots, young children in tennis outfits walked down the runway alongside her holding rackets.

Off the runway, Gigi Hadid, 27, held hands with Serena as the close friends walked backstage.

Gigi also put on a very animated display while supporting Serena at the US Open on September 1, alongside her sister Bella.
