West Coast legend Snoop Dogg ignited a firestorm recently during an interview with The Breakfast Club. While acknowledging Eminem’s status as a rap icon, Snoop Dogg declared he wouldn’t include him on his personal top 10 rappers of all time list.
Snoop Dogg and Eminem are without a doubt two big guns in the rap industry. Both these legends have a huge fan following not just limited to the West, but also across the globe they have a massive number of admirers. Both the ace rappers are an inspiration for many and are without a doubt two among few whom aspiring singers and rappers look up to.
However, Snoop Dogg believes other rappers deserve a higher ranking than Eminem.
“He might be a legend,” Snoop Dogg conceded, “but I don’t think he cracks my top 10.” He went on to credit Dr. Dre for discovering and nurturing raw rap talent, including Eminem.
“Dr. Dre probably put Eminem in the position that he would be considered one of the top 10 rappers ever,” Snoop Dogg said. “I don’t think so, but the game thinks that he’s the top 10 lyricists and everything that comes with it. That’s just because he’s with Dr. Dre.”
Snoop Dogg championed rappers from the 1980s, declaring them superior to Eminem in his opinion. He named Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, KRS-One, LL Cool J, and Ice Cube as examples of these more deserving artists.
The Breakfast Club’s Instagram post featuring the interview quickly became a magnet for fan reactions. The comments section exploded with debate, with some fans defending Eminem’s place in hip-hop history and others echoing Snoop Dogg’s sentiment. One thing is certain – Snoop Dogg’s comments have reignited the age-old debate about who truly qualifies as the “greatest of all time.”
Below are fans’ reactions:
“Im sure most ppl would have Eminem in there top 10 rappers over Snoop”
“I like Eminem but mainstream wise, he’s overrated.”
“Snoop always a hater”
“Agreed, not even top 20!!!”
“Eminem is way better than you 😂😂”
“But I love Eminem over Snoops music tho 😩😩”
“I really struggle to not put Eminem in my top 10”
“Eminem top 5 bro”
” Snoop I can’t agree with you on this one”
