LeBron James is one of the best players of all time, and it is clear that he has had great individual seasons, based on his 4 MVP awards. However, there are many who believe that the awards do not reflect his true greatness and that perhaps he should have had more awards.

An NBA fan has recently suggested that LeBron James should have won the MVP award during the 2017-18 season and that it was the biggest “robbery” in sports history. LeBron James notably carried an otherwise mediocre team to the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference, while averaging 27.5 PPG, 8.6 RPG, and 9.1 APG.

He ended up losing out to James Harden, who averaged 30.4 PPG, 5.4 RPG, and 8.8 APG with the 1st seed Houston Rockets. LeBron James also ended up making the Finals that season as well, though that doesn’t matter much in MVP voting, as it is a regular-season award.

It seems as though the poster is suggesting that it’s unfair that LeBron James lost out even with all of his totals being higher than Harden’s. LeBron James notably has a higher FG% in the graphic, 54.2 to James Harden’s 44.9.

LeBron James did play more games, however, so it makes sense that his overall totals would be higher than Harden’s. While LeBron James had a great year that season, James Harden had his own great case for the MVP award and was with the higher-seeded team. LeBron James is clearly the better player overall, but James Harden’s season during 2017-18 was phenomenal.
