Steph is always considered by many as the most fun NBA player to watch.

Stephen Curry is one of the most exhilarating players in the league due to his explosive playing style. He does not need elite athleticism to make the game exciting, as his prowess from three-point range makes the game more exciting.

Apart from his scoring, he plays the game at an unreal pace, which boosts the energy of everyone on the Golden State Warriors. Former Warriors general manager Bob Myers believes the passion and fast-paced playing style help Steph be a leader by example for the team.

Playing at this level, so much emphasis is put on winning a championship, and when you’re in it, you realize that you have to make that sacrifice. It’s not fun, and it doesn’t have to be fun, but Steph, the genius of Steph is he can make winning fun,” Myers said to JJ Redick on Old Man and the Three.

Steph became a beloved figure due to his play

Playing an exciting style endears fans to any player. This has been the case for a long time in the NBA, and it becomes even better when teams are successful when playing with that style. Myers brings up Earvin “Magic” Johnson as an example of a star player during the Showtime era of the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1980s.

It’s a fair comparison because Steph and Magic are the engines that keep their teams going. JJ Redick noted that players like those two legendary point guards express joy through basketball, which is evident in their styles.

“Magic Johnson, Stephen Curry, the reason they’re so revered, applauded, and beloved is that they had fun doing it. Genuinely, it wasn’t fake. Everybody wants to love playing a sport, I never said I laughed a lot when I played basketball,” Myers continued. “So you got Steph doing that, what that does is through the hard parts of the season or a Playoff run, Steph keeps it light. Not an agenda, it’s who he is.”

Draymond is the polar opposite as a leader

Draymond Green is the secondary leader for the Warriors, and he is the opposite of Curry. He plays with intensity and seriousness, contrasting the fun and upbeat Steph. Myers noted that it was yin and yang between Steph and Dray, which is why it worked and helped them win four titles. It’s hard to go against something that worked for the longest time, and it resulted in some of the most successful teams ever.

The leadership group with the opposites of fun and seriousness between Curry and Green worked while Klay Thompson was smack dab in the middle. Klay is reserved, but he can also have fun or be serious when he needs to be. That makes them the perfect trio to build a team around, which Myers did a great job when crafting a roster around them to succeed and eventually win four championships.
