Two time MVP, Stephen Curry is starting his 11th NBA season with the Warriors. Even after winning 3 championships out of 5 straight final appearances he is still one of the best pure scorers in the league and is already considered as the best shooter in NBA history, especially from the 3-point line.
This season was a major turning point for the Warriors since they lost Kevin Durant and some other important pieces of their championship run, however, everybody is now looking in Curry’s direction to do the same thing he did on the court when he won those two MVP awards.
On ESPN’s show “The Jump” Scottie Pippen explained what makes Curry so unique and how he completely changed the game with his ability to shot the ball extremely well. Pippen recognizes the importance of other great shooters before Curry, like Ray Allen for example but said nobody shot at that volume with such a high percentage as Stephen Curry does for the past couple of years.
“It’s amazing when you look at how this kid shots the ball from behind the 3-point line. There is no restriction. He’s been a game-changer when you look at his 3-point attempts compared to Ray Allen and Allen got 4 or 5 per game where Steph is probably getting 10 to 15 per game. I don’t see any players in the league that can really change this landscape unless he and Klay get on separate teams. When you look at all these threes Steph is shooting, his shooting percentage is still high.”
Curry is extremely efficient from the 3-point and he has a career average of 43 percent shooting. At the moment he is ranked 5th on the all-Time 3-point field goal percentage, however, nobody shot at the same volume as he does. He will most probably pass Ray Allen as the all-time leader in 3-pointers made, and the only real competition in terms of shooting the ball he has in his own teammate and backcourt partner Klay Thompson.
