The Michael Jordan-LeBron James GOAT debate is forever a source of never-ending discussions.

“Just because you play longer…doesn’t make you better,” Skip Bayless unfazed by 39-year-old LeBron James’ career, claims Michael Jordan is still GOAT

Skip Bayless and LeBron James

Skip Bayless, on the ‘Undisputed’ show, re-emphasized his choice of Michael Jordan for basketball’s GOAT over LeBron James while responding to Paul Pierce. This has added another layer to the long-standing argument on NBA’s most contentious debate.

Paul Pierce, the Boston Celtics legend, had on the same show stated what LeBron James needed to do to finally surpass his mortal rival for the crown of the “GOAT of GOATs.” However, the veteran analyst, Skip Bayless, wasn’t buying it and had his arguments to make his case for the Chicago Bulls legend.

Bayless’ argument was based on James’ past performances, particularly in 2015 against the Golden State Warriors when he failed to take his team to the end despite a strong start. Furthermore, he also had a problem with the way he lost to a Dirk Nowitzki-led Dallas Mavericks in the 2011 NBA Finals. With the list endless, he also took issue with the way his longevity is used as a factor when talking about his legacy versus that of Michael Jordan.

Just because you play longer at a higher level does not make you better. It’s hard to compete with a 6-0 Finals record, 6 MVPs, and ten scoring titles. It’s hard to compete with a Michael Jordan who had no epic failures in his playoff runs.
Skip Bayless said.

The veteran analyst has his points as compared to Jordan, who has a clean record in the NBA Finals. LeBron James, on the other hand, has faltered in several Finals he has appeared in. However, this debate is a topic that doesn’t have a clear winner in sight yet.

Lil Wayne was also a guest on the Undisputed Show and futilely attempted to change the mind of the die-hard MJ fan, Skip Bayless. While the Lollipop artist is also an MJ fan, he has a rather close connection with LBJ.

According to Bayless, James has more minutes than MJ, and it would be unfair to argue that the former is a better player. He also asserted that Jordan would make 60k points if he were an active NBA player. Lil Wayne then interrupted him:

He [Jordan] actually did decide to keep playing, Skip, and what happened was he noticed that he was not able to play. So he went on and gave it up.

Jordan, who had retired twice before becoming a minority owner of the Washington Wizards, followed a different path. Elsewhere, James is still active in his 21st season, at 39 years old.
